Yun Li Feng Library

Brief Introduction

The Library of the Association was first established in 7/9/2003 , initially with the name of “Xing An Library” occupying both wings of the old hall. The founder of the library – JP Mr 陳春德 is a man of literary interest whom strongly believed that Association must be the prime pace setter in cultural activities. Other than the  JP 莊玉霖 Essay Writing Competition, publication of Xing An Literary Collections, organizing of Literature Workshops and Seminars, he endeavored to make Malaysian Chinese literature popular and all geared up to promote Chinese cultures and arts.

In addition to promoting Malaysian Chinese literature, he perceived the importance of cultivating good reading habits amongst the community. During the second year of his tenure as the President, he extended efforts in setting up the library by generously donating his written publications and also more than two thousand books from his personal collections. Subsequently he donated a sum of fifty thousand ringgit to enable his friends to source and purchase books of different genres from the bookshops in Mainland China. The setting up of the Library also received overwhelming response and support from writers of Mainland China and Malaysia whom in turn donated more than 300 books to the Library. The dazzling genres of the collections in the Library encompass literary works covering classical, modern, contemporary, translated works, children’s literature. There are also books of sociology, aesthetics and the list is not exhaustive.

JP Mr 陳春德 in addition to actively promote Malaysian Chinese Literature he too realized the dire needs to promote reading habits. He also hoped that the setting up of this Library would serve as a catalyst spurring other organizations to move in the same direction encouraging and organizing activities of literary pursuits.

Voluminous Books Awaiting Book Lovers

When the Library re-opened after extensive renovation in 20/11/2012, there is an unanimous consesus among board of committees that the Library be named after its founder as Yun Li Feng Library. In October the following year, the library is shifted to the third floor of the building and is opened to the public. The Association now has a good collection of over ten thousand books housed in a comfortable reading environment. The Library is managed by professionals using computer system to operate.
